Save the Date! Nomination Day: Thursday September 13th, between 11 am and 8 pm

One week into the formal nomination contest in Calgary-Elbow and we can now share some more details.

Nomination Day:  Thursday September 13th, between 11 am and 8 pm

Location:  Marda Loop Communities Hall (Upper Hall, 3130 16 St SW)

Membership sales cutoff:  Friday August 24th (11:59 pm)

Unfortunately, there is no advance vote opportunity.  At this point, there is also no debate or any other "compare and contrast" event scheduled.  I personally think such an event would have been helpful for you, the members.

I have lived throughout Calgary-Elbow.  It's a bit shocking to think of it, but I have lived in Lower Mt. Royal, Bel-Aire, Mt. Royal, Elbow Park, Garrison Woods, Rideau Towers, Parkhill and North Glenmore.  It's given me a pretty good window on our community.

I love this community, as I know you do too!

I want to bring Elbow back into the UCP fold and make sure our voice is at the table when it comes to making important Alberta decisions on things like:

• Pipelines and market access
• Upstream flood mitigation
• Putting the brakes on government spending
• Creating a responsible fiscal plan that is forward thinking

If you know others who want to be part of this important decision, they can buy a membership for as little as $10 at the UCP website:  https://www.unitedconservative.ca/Membership

I am also looking for more volunteers and assistance on the financial side of this campaign and you can sign up or make a donation of any amount at my website:  www.chrisdavis.ca

Don't forget to come by the Calgary-Elbow UCP booth at the Marda Gras festival this Sunday August 12th between 10 am and 5 pm to meet me and our team!  I look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,

Chris Davis

Calgary-Elbow Nomination Race is Underway!

The RACE IS ON! As of Thursday, the nomination contest for Calgary-Elbow is now OPEN!

You have the opportunity to vote in our Calgary-Elbow nomination event. It is sure to be a real contest which is why I need your support.  I ask for your support on Nomination Day in Calgary-Elbow for the privilege of working daily to represent the interests of this, our community.

I am a lifelong resident and believe that Calgary-Elbow deserves to be represented by someone who is passionate about where they live. Someone who knows the community and is proud to be its face in the provincial political arena. Someone who has worked on community issues and has an understanding that being an elected representative is more than a job.

In speaking with residents in Calgary-Elbow, this is what I have heard:

You want:

  • Balanced budgets, starting with government operations, and stop the debt spiral
  • Access to markets / tidewater for our resources
  • Supporting employers and businesses as the drivers of our economy
  • Restoring faith in Alberta as a place to invest long-term
  • Delivery of upstream Elbow and Bow River flood mitigation

I commit to:

  • Not taking your vote for granted
  • Listening to our community and the grassroots. This is not about top-down leadership.
  • Treating taxpayers' money like it is your own
  • Being forward thinking. Planning for an Alberta that keeps our children living, working and playing right here at home!

I have always been a conservative who has listened and learned. I want to be a part of a conservative success story, as your UCP candidate for Calgary-Elbow. When the Nomination Day is set, mark your calendar and please vote for "Chris Davis" as your UCP candidate in Calgary-Elbow!

Why Support Chris In Calgary-Elbow

Hello,

Thank you in advance for reading this important letter.  In 2017 I ran in the municipal election as a candidate in Ward 8.  We finished 2nd - garnering almost 10,000 votes because people believed in my experience and what I promised to deliver.   I am now seeking the UCP nomination in the provincial Calgary-Elbow riding and I am asking for your support.

Why me?

My interest in representing Calgary-Elbow is based upon my lengthy history and experience in our community.  I am a lifelong resident and believe that it deserves to be represented by someone who is passionate about where they live.  Someone who knows the community and is proud to be its face in the provincial political arena.

I am running (sprinting!) to represent our Calgary-Elbow electoral district as I am at a time in my career and life where it is simply the right thing to do to leverage this life experience on behalf of the many neighbourhoods in Calgary-Elbow, into the provincial arena. I want to truly represent the place where we all live, work and play.

I announced my intention to seek this nomination at the founding meeting of the Calgary-Elbow UCP district back in February.

And I am running because I believe - as you believe -  that there is no more important a time than now to seek change at all three levels of government.

Starting in Edmonton.

I am not going to tell you why the United Conservative party should be the next choice for our provincial government.  You are receiving this note because you are already a United Conservative supporter.  You believe that a change in government is critical for our province.

I would like to either inform or remind you about why I should be your first choice for the role of carrying the conservative banner on behalf of our Calgary-Elbow community:

  • a volunteer within the community for over 30 years, serving on or chairing:
    • the Parkhill / Stanley Park board and development committee
    • condo boards in Garrison Woods, Rideau Ridge and Parkhill
    • a local land trust (Western Sky)
    • numerous arts community boards and councils (Lunchbox Theatre, CRAF, Premier's Council)
    • the board of an established local community sports club

I know the importance of and challenges associated with volunteer-run initiatives!

  • Acting as legal counsel for community concerns in multiple contentious development matters
  • Engaged on local conservative associations in numerous campaigns, most recently in the 2014 provincial by-election and the 2015 provincial general election.  Served as association president on the last PC association and on the founding UCP association.
  • Happily married and residing within Calgary-Elbow

You can help me get the word out in OUR community by liking my Facebook page here.

It has been an exciting year since last July's successful merger of the two legacy conservative parties.  Jason Kenney helped steer the UCP through three successful and unprecedented votes to get this far.  And the recent UCP by-election victories in Innisfail-Sylvan Lake and Fort McMurray-Conklin demonstrate that the UCP as a combined conservative party can be even greater than the sum of its parts!

I would like to be a part of this continued conservative success story, as your UCP candidate for Calgary-Elbow.  I am working hard each and every day to earn your respect and your trust.

When the nomination date is announced, I ask for your support in Calgary-Elbow for the privilege of representing the interests of this, our community.

Yours humbly and most sincerely,

Chris
